You'd hardly think a band like Switchfoot would be full of the rabble-rousing, shit-disturbing type of people who have run-ins with the cops, but apparently that's not the case.
Switchfoot frontman Jon Foreman was probably making more than a few of his fans happy last night in Tampa, Fla. when he played an impromptu set for them outside the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre. The mini-show took place after a Goo Goo Dolls show Switchfoot had opened.
But it was cut short when the boys and girls in blue showed up and took Foreman away from a group of fans watching him play.
"Just got forcefully removed from my aftershow by the police…" he tweeted. "Officer Fisher grabbed me by the arm and shut us down. Really?!?"
Foreman had told fans to meet him outside the venue in a tweet he made earlier in the day.
Foreman later told CNN this isn't the first time the cops have shut one of his aftershows down, saying he wonders if the gatherings of people make the authorities "nervous."
In the video below, Foreman can be seen playing two new Switchfoot songs while surrounded by fans. At around four minutes in, red flashes of squad car lights can be seen flashing in the background while an officer begins shouting, "Let's go!"
Foreman continues playing, while the officer then says, "Sir, I'm giving you respect, now you have to give me respect. I already said let's go." The fans protest before the officer announces the show is "over," and says to Foreman, "I'll tell you what: If I call somebody over here, you're going to be forced out. Now what do you want to do?"
Foreman offers the officer, who says his name is Fisher, his hand, and Fisher removes him from the scene.
