There have been tons of amazing tub thumpers since 1985. Stop insisting nothing good came out of the '80s and that it was full of hair metal and synthpop, that the '90s were crap after grunge was dead, and that last decade was mostly full of awful nu-metal bands with really bad drummers.
Rhythm Magazine has compiled a list of the 20 greatest drummers of the last 25 years. They created it by asking their readers to vote for their favourite tub thumpers.
Slipknot's Joey Jordison kicked all of his competition's asses, pulling in 37 per cent of the votes, with over 38,000 people saying he was the best.
Dream Theater and Avenged Sevenfold's Mike Portnoy was the runner up with 29,000 votes, while Porcupine Tree's Gavin Harrison came in third. Canada was represented by Rush's Neil Peart at #4, while Dave Grohl came in fifth place and was followed by Blink-182's Travis Barker.
Members of Iron Maiden and Chad Smith, along with Phil Collins and the drummer for Frank Zappa and Sting rounded out the top 10.
Jordison's Murderdolls side-project are set to release their second studio album on Aug. 31. Women And Children Last was produced by Jordison and Chris "Zeuss" Harris (The Acacia Strain, Bleeding Through). It features a guest appearance from Motley Crue guitarist Mick Mars.
You can hear first single "My Dark Place Alone" on Murderdolls' MySpace page.
