Everyone made a big deal of the fact that Kanye West joined Twitter last week after saying he never would. Kanye got so much attention that he overshadowed the arrival of another incredibly hilarious musician to Twitter: Wayne Coyne.
A close examination of Coyne's tweets over the last few days indicates that the Flaming Lips frontman's brain is indeed as amazingly twisted and warped from psychedelic drug consumption as we'd expected.
Instead of doing what everyone else in the media was doing — a rundown of Kanye's tweets, pointing out what you can learn about his life from them — we figured we'd give you a closer look at Wayne Coyne's life and every nook and cranny of his mind.
Here, then, are eight things we've learned about Wayne Coyne from his Twitter this week:
1. Everything — and we do mean everything — about Coyne's life is psychedelic. This includes the "fat, naked PCP guy" who attacked LCD Soundsystem at Bonnaroo, airport maps, sunrises, museum exhibition ads… heck, he's even able to reference a "bad acid flashback hearing a Supertramp song from 1977" while standing next to what looks like a sculpture from hell.
2. He's infinitely cooler than you, and that's because he can hang out with M.I.A. and talk about giving ecstasy to a crowd "to keep them from yawning" like that's a completely normal, everyday thing. Oh, and he can manage to make her not be self-righteous and annoying for once.
3. You know how when you were a kid, you'd angrily tear the crusts off your bread, determined to only eat the white part in the middle? Wayne Coyne can get his own crustless bread.
4. He finds bidets, which are low-mounted sinks next to European toilets, used to wash genitalia, fascinating. We don't, however, know if he uses them.
5. He takes pictures of his wife's bum when she's not looking. And his wife is cool enough not to care.
6. He enjoys trees… and also passing out in random Portuguese parks. And looking like a really, really classy hobo.
7. He can deal with people having "brown teeth… as long as they don't stink."
8. For Wayne Coyne's wife, this is a normal way to dry a shirt.
