We hope you were all enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend because if you weren't, there's something really wrong with you.
We here at CHARTattack celebrated the fact that there wasn't a cloud in the sky by going to a wedding for managing editor Aaron Brophy and CHARTattack contributor Sarah Kurchak.
The couple were married on the shores of Lake Erie at Long Beach Conservation Area in Wainfleet, Ont. Two members of the CHARTattack Hack HC were among Brophy's groomsmen, and Goldfinger drummer and Edge 102.1 FM's Darrin Pfeiffer was one of those who attended.
Amusingly, it was mentioned in the wedding program that Brophy and Kurchak had met at CHARTattack, back when Chart magazine was still in publication. Kurchak was an intern, and on her first day, Brophy sent her out into the rain to run an errand. "She sobbed the whole time and seriously considered quitting," the program points out. Good thing she didn't.
After the ceremony, I took the time to play a little beach baseball (baseball with a beach ball) with CHARTattack contributor Steve McLean, CHARTattack staffer Chris Burland, his wife Jenny Armstrong and my best pal in the whole world, Wendy Hill. I missed two pitches, which is pathetic and shows just how good my hand eye coordination is, proving I have absolutely no depth perception whatsoever.
Other hilarious moments were had during best man Travis Brophy's speech, which he kept short and sweet - "like myself," he pointed out - and during Aaron's remarks, in which he said Kurchak "might — and I've underlined this — might be smarter than me." Travis also provoked tons of laughter when he invaded the bridesmaids' dance circle during Lady Gaga's "LoveGame" and showed everyone his awesome moves.
Dinner included delicious burgers, hotdogs, barbecued chicken breast, corn on the cob, salads and cupcakes.
Congratulations and cheers to the happy couple, and we hope your weekend was as enjoyable as ours!
