Alexisonfire drummer Jordan "Ratbeard" Hastings might consider taking on a different nickname, since he’s growing a moustache for a good cause.
Hastings is taking part in Movember, a charity event held every November in which men register with a clean face and spend the month growing a moustache and raising money. Why? To raise money for prostate cancer research.
About 24,700 Canadian men are diagnosed with prostate cancer every year. It kills about 4,300 annually. Donations raised on behalf of Movember will go to the Prostate Cancer Research Foundation Of Canada.
Hastings appeared on MTV Live last week to plug Movember. He wrote
in a Nov. 24 MySpace blog entry that he’s raised $1,220 so far. There’s still another week to donate your dollars in support of Hastings’ ‘stache, which you can do here.
"I think i like the stache, I may have to keep it for a little while!," Hastings wrote in his Movember blog.
You can see Hastings (who may still have his ‘stache) when Alexisonfire play The Wentworth Room at the Hamilton Convention Centre on Dec. 19 and 20.
