Recently, Matthew Good's been sporting a shirt during live shows that reads: "I Hear Matt Good's A Real Asshole." Now some people might just believe that statement through and through as he's been spouting some choice words about a certain Canadian rock band that started the whole Summersault tour... am I getting warmer? Get the hint?Yes, Matt Good, the King of Manifestos, bitched about Raine Maida's band Our Lady Peace in an interview with the Calgary Sun. Good called Our Lady Peace a "put-together band" whose musical ideas actually belong to producer Arnold Lanni, and said: "Don't tout [OLP] as the greatest thing since sliced fucking bread when the four of them couldn't sit around and make fucking butter together." Ouch. So the war is on... But Good doesn't stop there. He also charges that a Canadian record company bought CDs by one of its acts - either Our Lady Peace or The Tragically Hip - in order to push sales figures past the one million mark. And on the subject of EdgeFest, Good believes that Canadian rock bands, particularly those on the EdgeFest tour, are boring onstage. He says: "They just stand there. You're in front of 40,000 fucking people, man. Set something on fire!" [Editor's Note: Or hire a guy in a guerrilla outfit to dole out ice cream.]Would you call this verbal diarrhea or just publicity? Or is it about time that a Canadian rock star spoke his own opinions without the fear of setting someone off or being seen as a bad guy? All we can do now is wait with bated breath for Raine Maida's response to this attack. Will he fight back or do the politically correct thing and release a polite statement disagreeing with him in order to not offend? ChartAttack.com's money is on Raine not even saying a word.Stand straight and proud, Matt. You've got balls in an industry that's restrained, and we love you for that. Besides, can you see a boxing match coming out of this? Screw Robbie and Liam. Bring on Raine and Matt. That's gold, baby!
