Just look at those boys mug for the camera. We swear those kids in Simple Plan can't control themselves when someone puts a photographizing machine in front of them. Which all spells out image gold for us seeing as how they're our June 2002 cover stars.

For our hot 12th anniversary issue we tracked down those punky Montrealers between some crazy cross-continental touring action. Although this meant they were way tired, it also broke down their resistance, allowing us to probe their minds more effectively, meaning we got ourselves one fancy story.

Our probing of Silverchair also yielded fascinating results. Remember when they were all young and surly and morbid and kinda embarrassing? Well, they seem to have matured. Mopey little Daniel isn't so mopey anymore so you'll have to read up about how he sees colours now.

That's not to say we don't have stories about people making mopey music though. First up, we've got Dashboard Confessional, whose mainman Chris Carraba ranks up there with Jimmy Gnecco of Ours in the hug-me category. And then we've got a story on a world-beating angsty chick rocker who hails from the Ottawa region — and no, it's not Ms. Innerconnected — a young lady known as Avril Lavigne.

There's lots o' other empowered estro-rockers in this issue as well. We check in with the gals from Tuuli, The Breeders and everyone's favourite smutty electro-rapper, Princess Superstar.

Of course, that's not all we've got. You can also throw in stories on that man-pervert Custom, those punk rock idealists Goldfinger and friends of Sum, Not By Choice.
