In the October 1999 issue of CHART Magazine:

HAPPINESS IS THE RETURN OF OUR LADY PEACE
WHILE THE MATTHEW GOOD BAND TAKES NO CRAP

OLP in Chart Magazine

Perhaps the most popular Canadian rock band of the decade, Our Lady Peace has finally returned to record store shelves this month, with the intensely anticipated new CD Happiness Is Not a Fish That You Can Catch. During breaks in the shooting of the video for OLP's hot new single "One Man Army" the band dished the scoop to CHART writer Melanie Windover about what went into the creation of their follow-up to 1997's incredibly popular, Clumsy. Sexy lead singer Raine Maida feels that Happiness... is an album "For real music lovers that want to sit at home, turn off the radio, put on their headphones or their stereo and just listen to it by themselves."

Yet another hot Canadian rock act scorching up the charts with a long-awaited third release, is the Matthew Good Band. Having just released Beautiful Midnight, the follow-up to MGB's 1997 sleeper hit Underdogs, the super-opinionated Mr. Good (along with band mate Dave Genn) met with CHART's new music editor Aaron Brophy, to discuss, among other things: the release of the new album, the shootings at Columbine High School, and last summer's EdgeFest tour. "I'm sure we're going to get banned from Wal-mart..." Good says "Completely sure of it."

It's an all-celebrity Tte-a-Tte this month, as Hole's Samantha Maloney faces off against Bodega's Kim Temple, in a classic girl drummer summit. How does a twenty-three year old that's never owned a Hole record end up in the band? You can find out here.

Rounding out this scary, scary October issue are interviews with hip-hoppin' wonderkinds Len, Ash, Guided By Voices, and former Soundgarden vocalist Chris Cornell. And of course, as always, there's also a full round-up of music news and gossip from coast-to-coast, record reviews, book, film and zine coverage, and more!
