Julie Doiron — "Consolation Prize"

Julie Doiron

Remember Green Day's clip for "Geek Stink Breath"? Julie Doiron's video for "Consolation Prize" is like that, except with a lot more fuzz and less annoying pop punk. Oh, and no close-ups of bloody teeth being pulled.

Doiron goes to the dentist and it looks like she doesn't want any work done. What look like flashbacks appear to show a younger Doiron, who always hated the dentist. She ends up losing a tooth and then starts attacking the dentist with a gigantic toothbrush.

Who hasn't fantasized about doing getting revenge after having their gums and teeth poked and prodded by someone with carrying sharp tools and wearing mask over their mouth? Let's be honest.

But check out the rotting corpse Doiron pulls from her garden at the end! Whoa!

I guess the dentist metaphor is fitting, though, since "Consolation Prize" is a break-up song, and break-ups are like pulling a big, rotting molar from one's mouth — it hurts, but it's gotta be done, otherwise your jaw would decay.

I Can Wonder What You Did With Your Day is in stores now.
