“Feel my pain, and I'll do yours/we're all banged up, but who's keeping score?”
The opening lines of Kurt Vile's “Feel My Pain” suggests that the acoustic tune is probably not about sports-related injuries, because scores are important for those. More likely it's about the deeper pain, the one that goes past your muscles and bones and into your heart, where it waits for another person brave and loving enough to suffer the full wrath of your unresolved high school bullying.
At six and a half minutes long, Kurt Vile has a lot to say about his pain, and as usual he makes it a joy to listen to. He'll release a new EP on November 19th via Matador, called It's a big world out there (and I am scared).
