Classically gothic songwriter Rachel Zeffira‘s debut album The Deserters is out today on Paper Bag Records, and bonus track “Wintertime” is streaming below. It wouldn’t be far off to call the song processional – despite a lonely shuntering synth and an overarching psychedelic vibe (which should please fans of her Cats Eyes project with The Horrors’ Faris Badwan), it follows the lethargic pulse of the bass drum, and you almost want to avert your ears from what feels like a too personal expression of grief.
