Jose Gonzalez’s band Junip will release a new self-titled album this spring on Mute, and “Line of Fire” is its first single. As far as briskly strummed nylon-stringed guitar rallying cries go, it’s bracing and even catchy. The power of Gonzalez’s vocals takes root subliminally, his gentle voice beckoning you rather than bludgeoning. The more immediate catharsis is left to the lush folk-pop instrumentation.
