Tom Krell promised sunnier moments on How To Dress Well's second album, and he certainly delivered on “& It Was U,” a supremely accomplished pop song which demonstrated that Krell's voice could be more than just heartbreaking. So it's not shocking that Doss' garage-y remix of the tune works so well. The vocals now serve the music, which emits the exact sort of exultant, measured energy that can transform a warehouse or air hanger into a dancefloor. The song shifts from frantic to chill as effortlessly as a good crossfade, with strobing bass that washes perfectly into exultant, shimmering interludes that tenderly stroke your brain's receptors.
