Memory Tapes has been killing it with these galumphing bedroom pop epics, and Stereogum’s got the premiere of another one, the feisty “Neighbourhood Watch.” The beginning hears the Supertramp-y vocals float through a glorious heat-refracted bleariness, before being carried through several very different sections that seem only vaguely connected, like countries on a map. But the journey doesn’t come to an end peacefully; the last few minutes unleash a sound barrier-breaking Nine Inch Nails recalling finale that’s just another curveball in a series of fascinating ones.
