Toro Y Moi‘s self-produced, hip-hop heavy remix of “So Many Details” might make it seem like he’s part of the growing roster of artists that are eager to express their rap passions through side projects and production credits. However, the original version already had an exotic-yet-timeless rap influence, and this new version simply doubles down on it, with help from Hodgy Beats of MellowHype. Chaz Bundick picks up the track’s pace and vitality, steering it intriguingly close to club banger territory, though it’s not any club found outside of a boardwalk in summertime. Hodgy’s verse is much better suited for Bundick’s tropical sounds than Tyler’s recent attempt; it’s perfectly articulated confusion that’s less abrasive and unironically reflective.

The “So Many Details” 7″ will be released on November 23rd via Carpark Records.
