Now King Krule‘s using her verse for his own rework of “New York,” a much less abrasive and foggier version that adds an air of wry confidence to Angel Haze’s aggressive flow and glides on pulse-perfect R&B percussion. It’s a fascinating case study of how an altered instrumental can improve a rapper’s verse while the words remain exactly the same.
