Today is Groundhog Day and the 30th anniversary of Sid Vicious' death. Tomorrow is the 50th anniversary of the plane crash that claimed the lives of Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper (J.P. Richardson) in a frozen corn field near Clear Lake, Iowa.
The tragedy inspired Don McLean (the singer/songwriter, not my truck-drivin' father) to write the 1971 hit, "American Pie." Some people in the office were dissing the song last week, but it will always mean something to me.
