I wrote yesterday about Magic Christian's impressive Monday night performance at Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern.
Well, Tuesday night's show at Hamilton's Club Absinthe sounds like it might have been even better, according to Sonic Unyon's Sean Palmerston.
More than 200 people turned out to see Teenage Head's Gord Lewis and Dave "Rave" DesRoches open the show with a set of Head songs, including a number off 1988's Electric Guitar — the lone album where DesRoches replaced the late Frankie Venom as the band's lead singer.
Lewis appropriately picked up his guitar and joined Magic Christian for "Teenage Head." Lewis' brother John and DesRoches then came on stage for "Shake Some Action."
"HOLY FUCK," wrote Sean in his e-mail regarding his response to that encore. "It was a good night."
Sean's evening was made even better when Magic Christian guitarist Cyril Jordan signed his copies of The Flamin' Groovies' Teenage Head, Shake Some Action and Slow Death LPs.
