Warner Home Entertainment Showcase

Warner Home Entertainment presented their RockNRolla-themed first quarter product showcase at Toronto's Hard Rock Cafe on Thursday evening, and it was something to behold even as you walked in the door.

A very attractive and well-endowed young woman, wearing nothing but paint from the waist up, handed me a gift bag that contained the RockNRolla DVD, a RockNRolla knit cap, a Wonder Woman crest and a DVD with information about the company's first-quarter releases. I was then invited to a number of tables to further fill my bag with: the cool RockNRolla soundtrack; a DVD featuring episodes of Summer Heights High, The Life & Times Of Tim and the hillarious Little Britain USA; a pair of sunglasses; a card for two free downloads from Puretracks; a coupon for half-a-dozen oysters at Big Daddy's Crab Shack & Oyster Bar; and a coupon for a complimentary cup of chili con queso at Lone Star Texas Grill. I'll have to buy an entree, appetizer or beverage if I want to take advantage of that, however.

I took a few more steps into the room and was handed a tasty RockNRolla cocktail, which didn't last long. There were more free drinks and the food just kept coming: mini cheesburgers and vegie burgers; spring rolls; coconut shrimp; French fries; chicken fingers; desserts and candies. There was lots of eye candy for guys to ogle, too.

Free airbrushed tattoos were available, but I respectfully declined. It's too damn cold for me to be exposing any flesh, so no-one would have seen it anyway.

The evening ended with a three-song, meat-and-potatoes alterna-rock set by Rides Again. Women were planted in front of the stage to throw bras and panties they had brought with them, but no-one else seemed too excited.

In the midst of all this came the reason why everyone was invited: the product presentation. So without further ado, here are the DVD (and sometimes Blu-Ray) titles that you can look for from Warner Home Entertainment for the rest of the winter:

* the fifth season of Nip/Tuck
* Chrissa
* Little Britain U.S.A.
* a Chris Rock stand-up comedy performance called Kill The Messenger
