Hangin' With Stompin' Tom

Did you spend seven hours hanging out with Stompin' Tom Connors at his house yesterday? My fellow ChartAttack editor Aaron Brophy and I did.

EMI Music Canada invited us, along with other media and retail people, to listen to The Ballad Of Stompin' Tom, which will be released on Oct. 28. Tom talked about some of the songs on the album, I interviewed him for 40 minutes, there was a tasty variety of food to eat, and Tom Jr. was behind the bar serving lots of drinks. Tom, his wife Lena and Tom Jr. were gracious and entertaining hosts and, after hearing stories for years about the hospitality friends have enjoyed there, I was thrilled to finally enjoy it myself.

Tom invited me to stay up all night drinking Moosehead with him, and I wanted to, but Aaron finally convinced me that we should take advantage of the limo driver who wanted to take us home at midnight. I'd be happy to take you up on that rain check offer sometime, though, Tom.
