Paul McCartney and photographer Linda Eastman married on this date in 1969.McCartney and Eastman met at a concert in London, England in 1967, where Eastman was taking photos and met again a few days later when The Beatles launched Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band at manager Brian Epstein's house in London.
McCartney later became engaged to longtime girlfriend Jane Asher, but the two broke up after McCartney cheated on her (not with Eastman). In May 1968, when McCartney was in New York to form Apple Corps., he met Eastman again. Four months later, Eastman moved to London and the two were married the following March.
Eastman took on McCartney's surname and McCartney adopted Eastman's daughter, Heather, who Eastman had in a previous marriage. McCartney and Eastman had three children: Mary, who went on to become a photographer; James, a musician; and Stella, a fashion designer.
Linda McCartney passed away from breast cancer in 1998. McCartney later remarried former model Heather Mills (we all know how well that worked out) and is now dating Nancy Shevell.
