Oasis released their second album, (What's The Story) Morning Glory?, 13 years ago at home in the U.K. It was released the next day in North America.
The album shot straight to #1 on the U.K. charts and stayed there for 10 weeks. It debuted at #4 in the U.S. and also hit #1 in Australia. (What's The Story) Morning Glory? went on to become the third highest-selling album in U.K. chart history, just behind Queen's Greatest Hits and The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. It has since sold 18.4 million copies worldwide.
The album yielded the band four #1 singles (two hit #1 in the U.K., and three took the top spot in the U.S.): "Some Might Say," "Wonderwall," "Champagne Supernova" and "Morning Glory."
Readers' and critics' polls in U.K. magazines have since voted (What's The Story) Morning Glory? as one of the best albums of all time.
