Britney In The News

I don't know if you are aware of this (hopefully you have been reading more newsworthy, intelligent websites than me and my coworker Kate today), but in the last 24 hours, Britney Spears has been in the news 4 times.
Yes, you read that right. FOUR different, separate NEWS stories about Ms. Spears. Let's list them all!
1. Britney Spears will open the MTV VMAs. Thankfully, we won't have see the poor, mangled trainwreck of a pop star trying to sing.
2. Britney and Justin will reunite to record a duet for her upcoming album. Apparently, Timbaland is attached to JT's hip and is rumoured to be working on the project as well. (A source said: "She's strong again, and she wants Justin to see that. Musically she wants to blow him away." Honey, there's only one way you're going to do that, and it won't be with your music...)
3. And seriously, who asked Momma Lynne Spears to get in on the media frenzy?! She is apparently publishing a book, titled Through The Storm, about her daughter's misadventures as a wild teen (drinking at 13, having sex at 14 and doing drugs at 15) and her regret about letting Brit be sold as a sex object and allowing her to sleep with JT. (I'm baffled by that last part, but knowing the Spears family, I'm sure it's not that far out there.)
4. On top of all that, a judge refused to dismiss a misdemeanor case in which Ms. Spears was caught driving without a valid license. This means Brit could be going to trial in October.
And related to the Spears newsday fiasco is young mom Jamie Lynne, who apparently didn't send baby gifts to Bristol Palin. Why there are currently 67 related news stories showing up in Google, I will never understand.
This is entirely ridiculous. Aren't there other pop stars doing ridiculous shit in the world today to report on?! (Although I guess the point is that we shouldn't be reporting on them at all... Just some food for thought.)
