Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera, the Pussycat Dolls, and now...
Avril Lavigne? In a long line of skankarellas that were apparently deemed "too sexy" to play Malaysia, Lavigne's Asian tour kick-off date on Aug. 29 in Kuala Lumpur is the latest show that the Pan-Malaysian Islamic Party is urging the government to cancel.
Malaysia requires performers to be covered in clothes from the chest down to the knees, and they also must refrain from jumping, shouting, hugging and kissing on stage. So apparently they don't want anyone/anything entertaining on stage. (Or at least that leaves some of the previously mentioned performers with absolutely nothing to do up there.)
I know Avril mooned the country on a live national broadcast many moons ago, but really, "too sexy"?
And I remember around that same time in an interview with then MuchMusic VJ George Snuffleupagus when she was all dark and brooding and shit, and she swore that she would never be too girly or one of those "sexy performers"… Joke's on
you, old school Av!
