The NewMusic Cancelled = Apocalypse

The folks at CBC have just run a story saying long-running music journalism show The NewMusic is being cancelled.
Thanks CTV/Globemedia. This show was an oasis of credibility in a desert of shit, and the last lonely link to the quality "good ol' days" of Much. We presume it'll be replaced by some soulless reality program or — even worse — some spunky new CTV entertainment department producer's inevitable reimagining of the show as a cut-rate modern copycat. That'd really burn me up. The thought of some fuck with flippy hair two years out of Ryerson RTV using the words "edgy" and "interactive" at a pitch meeting to snow the old bosses makes me want to randomly stab people.
Whatever, I guess. There are people willing to pick up the slack. Readers/viewers looking for reasonably serious video interviews with bands can just check our media section regularly. We've got a stockpile of cool on-cameras we've done recently and we'll be publishing them all the time. At least with us, you'll know we actually still care about talking to real bands and doing real interview with 'em.
Heck, you know what, you can even go check out Exclaim's web interviews, too. They may be our blood enemies, but I trust their intentions a shitload more than a corporate media juggernaut who's axing a 30 year old institution.
Today's a sad day for music television.
