The eve of All Hallow's Eve (Saturday, October 30), a polite, yet enthusiastic crowd witnessed the umpteenth return of North Carolina's Superchunk to Toronto. The quartet ran through a number of songs from the magnificent '99 release Come Pick Me Up, as well as some solid older crowd favourites. At midnight, Mac McCaughan led the crowd through a rendition of "Happy Birthday" for drummer Jim Wilbur and bassist Laura Ballance fielded suggestions for a possible Hallowe'en costume from the crowd. A dominatrix outfit got the biggest cheer.
