RZA on Bobby Digital

 RZA as Bobby Digital |
During a short visit to Toronto to promote RZA as Bobby Digital in
Stereo, the soundtrack to his movie Bobby Digital, due on video this
year, RZA commented on the many influences he drew upon for the
freestyle movie.
"I watch a lot of blaxploitation films and old spy
movies from the sixties like "Our Man Flint". I obviously also watch a
lot of kung-fu flicks." explains RZA. "I chose one of the cover
illustrators of the Daredevil comic book to do the album cover and the
movie poster. I liked the way those old action-movie posters look, so I
told Bill (Sienkiewicz) to work around those themes."
On his directorial skills, RZA, who has directed music videos for the
Gravediggaz, admits that he's no Oliver Stone, but he brags about
utilizing some tricks that he picked up in Hong Kong while watching some
of the directors at work out there. "On a movie set, there's a whole
lotta people you gotta control and correct. You could tell them you want
the lighting a certain way, but they can't see what's in your head, so
they gotta take your word for it. A lotta times though, it never turns
out how you pictured it in your head."
