CMW 2010 Hot Acts: The Junction

Folks have been trying to figure The Junction out for years. They're popular with the all-ages screamo kids, but they play bouncy indie pop and dip into that Bedouin Soundclash/Planet Smashers reggae rock ska pop world.
It melts the brain. Perhaps the best bet is to just listen to their new Another Link In The Chain album and decide for yourself.

So, you're about to play the big industry event that is Canadian Music Week. What's the most shameless thing you've ever done to promote your band?
We had to hand out flyers to our own show when we did our first gig in the U.K. about an hour or so before we played.
What's the hardest part about being an up-and-coming band?
Making the right decisions to keep on top of things and not lose momentum.
How important is it for your band members to circulate and flirt with the audience before or after the show?
Warming up is important. Hanging with the audience is just something we do naturally before and after.
Have you ever stolen from someone else's rider? If so, who was it and what did you take?
TOTALLY. Our first tour was cross-Canada with Bedouin Soundclash. We'd consider anything left behind ours. A two-litre of O.J. the next day in the van is heavenly.
Have you ever been graded before according to CHARTattack.com's Rock 'n' Roll Report Cards?
HA-HA! Yes. We always get a terrible report card. But doesn't it also grade beard and haircuts? Maybe we'll get a better mark this year...
[Previous grades: 65 in 2006, 80 in 2007.]
Have you done anything new or interesting this week?
The word "izar" in Scrabble is a bomb! Check it.
The Junction play the Horseshoe Tavern on Saturday, March 13 at 1:20 a.m. as part of the annual CHARTattack/Horseshoe/Canadian Music Week showcase.
