CHARTattack: So, you're about to play the big industry even that is Canadian Music Week. What's the most shameless thing you've ever done to promote your band?
Gavin Gardiner: Most shameless thing? Well, we used spray-on adhesive glue to put up posters in Toronto, which was just a terrible idea because it got in our eyes and lungs. It was awful.

What's the hardest part of being an up-and-coming band?
Being away from home a lot — leaving friends and family behind.

How important is it for your band members to circulate and flirt with the audience before or after the show?

I don't schmooze. But it's fun to meet people who like your music, and a lot of times you become friends and it's great to have those friends across the country. Fan interaction is important.

Have you ever stolen from someone else's rider? If so, who was it and what did you take?
Yes. Beer and food from everyone we've ever played with.

Do you know if you've ever been graded before on CHARTattack.com's Rock ‘N' Roll Report Cards?
No.

Do you have high expectations for this year?
Yes. I think you have to have high expectations for everything. I want to do a lot more writing, I want to be home more and I want to be touring more. I really want to do everything at once.

Have you done anything new or interesting this week?

I watched the sunset behind the mountains on the ferry [from Victoria, B.C.]. That was pretty beautiful.

The Wooden Sky play Toronto's Horseshoe Tavern on March 13 at 11:10 p.m. as part of the annual CHARTattack/Horseshoe/Canadian Music Week showcase.
