The Ten Funniest Dudes In Rock

Stand up comedy and rock 'n' roll are a lot alike.
George Carlin was raging against the machine long before Zack De La Rocha and Tom Morello weren't doing what you told them. Mitch Hedberg rocked the mic with an original delivery that was stripped down and raw, much like a punk rock band out of Queens, N.Y.
Just as stand up comedians can embody the spirit of rock 'n' roll, there's guys in bands that can bring the funny. If the music industry were to implode and musicians had to find other means to support their families tomorrow, these are a few who could make it in the world of stand up. And so we present, the Top 10 Rock Star Comedians:
10) Tom Delonge, Blink-182
The cool kids don't like Tom Delonge, but it's tough to find anyone who didn't laugh out loud the first time they saw the video for "First Date." His humour has a mainstream appeal that does well with the masses. He's the McDonald's of comedy.
Comedian he'd be most like: Dane Cook
#9 Tre Cool, Green Day
He's a really weird dude. As Chris Elliott once said: "Not funny ha-ha, but funny strange." Some of the audience would sit and laugh, while the rest of them would wonder what the fuck was going on.
Comedian he'd be most like: Andy Kaufman
#8 Dallas Green, Alexisonfire
Anyone who's seen City And Colour live can attest to Dallas' sense of humour. He's got a wit that's quick like a rabbit on speed. What's great is it can come out of nowhere, much like the end of the video for "The Girl."
Comedian he'd most be like: Vince Vaughn
#7 Chad Kroeger, Nickelback
There's no point in beating a dead horse. Sometimes a guy can be the butt of so many jokes that he goes from loser to just plain sad. As a comedian, his past superstardom would guarantee him work in Las Vegas. Tourists would check out the show based on curiosity more than anything. It's either that or Hollywood Squares.
Comedian he'd be most like: Carrot Top
#6 Les Claypool, Primus
Much like Primus' music, Claypool's comedy would be unique and, for lack of a better term, fucked. A true original.
Comedian he'd be like: Bobcat Goldthwait
#5 Rody Walker, Protest The Hero
Walker's one of the most outspoken frontmen in Canadian punk rock and metal. He's never afraid to share an opinion. He's never afraid to go against the grain. His side project Cheese And The Mouse Traps is like Fred Penner on crystal meth.
Comedian he'd most be like: Flight Of The Conchords' Jemaine Clement
#4 Chad Smith, Red Hot Chili Peppers
It doesn't even matter if Smith is funny. He looks identical to Will Ferrell. He could just re-enact some of Ferrell's work and make a career out of it. Maybe he could also do some stunt double work. He's got options.
Comedian he'd most be like: Will Ferrell
#3 Mos Def
This one's a pretty obvious choice. Mos Def did a lot of work with Chappelle. He's a diverse talent that could do both stand up and sketch comedy. Two words: yellow cake.
Comedian he'd most be like: Dave Chappelle.
#2 Fat Mike, NOFX
As great as Fat Mike is at writing catchy punk rock jams, he's also funny as hell. His self-deprecating humour shines through in songs like "60%" or "Creeping Out Sara."
But what ties the NOFX frontman tightly to the world of stand up comedy is his open disdain for organized religion. "I Am Going To Hell For This One," "Best God In Show" and "You're Wrong" echo the argument that almost every great stand up has made at one point in their career: religion is bullshit.
Comedian he'd most be like: Bill Hicks
#1 Josh Homme, Queens Of The Stone Age
When it comes to comedy, Homme is a natural. He's the guy everyone wants to hang around at a party and he's a great storyteller with impeccable timing. God forbid you heckle him...
Comedian he'd most be like: George Carlin
