I've been keeping the bills paid through my music since 2003. Prior to that, though, I had a slew of random day jobs, including being a bike courier for about a year. It was a hype job, but really hectic. Basically, the job consists of picking up a package at point A and getting it to point B as quickly as possible. You get paid per package delivered, so the faster you are, the more you make. I loved the job... whipping around town all day, headphones on, smirking at all the poor slobs stuck slaving away at their cubicles. By the end of the day, though, I'd have so much adrenaline pumping through my system, I'd need to take an hour to decompress before I could interact with anybody.

I knew I wanted to write a song that would capture the crazy energy of the job. I also knew I wanted to do a collabo with Young Einstein, whom I had met while touring with Ugly Duckling (he's their producer and DJ). He sent me up some rough instrumental tracks and as soon as I heard the one that ended up being the beat for "Pedal Pusher," I knew that I had found the perfect musical backdrop for what I wanted to convey.

I'm pretty happy with how the song came out. I think it captures the essence of racing maniacally through downtown traffic on a bicycle. If you're a pedal pusher yourself, maybe you'll agree. If not, listen to the tune and hopefully you can experience the rush vicariously through the lyrics and music.

Peace and bike safe, Abs.
