Delinquints: CMW '09 Special

Toronto's Delinquints come by their name naturally, considering their classic punk and rawk vibe.

Besides, calling themselves We Like Bad Religion Records And Tripping Old Ladies is a bit too wordy and contemporary emocore a naming convention for their sound. They also appear to be friends with Kenny Hotz of Kenny Vs. Spenny fame, which is probably appropriate for a bunch of ne'er-do-wells.

We emailed a few questions to guitarist Beardo Belligerent. Here's what he said:

Hometown: Toronto

Members:
Jimy Delinquint (vocals)
Beardo Belligerent (lead guitar)
White Fro (drums)
Jack O'Lantern (guitar, vocals)
Precious Cargo (bass, vocals)

CHARTattack: So, you're about to play the big industry event that is Canadian Music Week. What's the most shameless thing you've ever done to promote your band?
Beardo Belligerent: Sexual favours, making out with ugly chicks, frequent lying, tolerating hours of pointless conversations with the cokehead elite at Toronto's dingiest boozecans.

What's the hardest part about being an up-and-coming band?
Fear of failure, self-doubt, losing money, long hours, lots of work. Cramped accommodations and communicable diseases, however, are a plus. Two of us currently have bronchitis.

How important is it for your band members to circulate and flirt with the audience before or after the show?
It's very important. Why else would you play music except to communicate, inspire and relate to others?

Have you ever stolen from someone else's rider? If so, who was it and what did you take?
Yes. Lots of beer, some bottled water, a bunch of patch chords and one cymbal. Too many bands to name.

Have you ever been graded before according to CHARTattack.com's Rock 'N' Roll Report Cards?
No. Although they do make fun of Delinquints for being a pun (CHARTattack, of course, isn't a pun).

Have you done anything new or interesting this week?
We slept in a van in downtown Montreal in minus 20 degree weather while on tour.

Delinquints play the Horseshoe Tavern on Thursday March 12 at 2:10 a.m. as part of the annual CHARTattack/Horseshoe/Canadian Music Week showcase.
