Given their name, it's only appropriate Great Lake Swimmers wrote "Ballad Of A Fisherman's Wife." They composed it in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon BP oil rig oil spill in the Gulf Of Mexico, which happened in April. The tune is about farmers and fishers who depend on waterbodies for their livelihood, which is incredibly appropriate considering how people living on the U.S. Gulf coast have been devastated by the oil spill.
The song will benefit Swim Drink Fish Music, an online initiative developed by Lake Ontario's Waterkeeper and other Canadian Waterkeeper organizations. The organization works with artists to produce music that will help benefit water conservation.
