Black Light Burns will release a covers album titled Cover Your Heart, along with a supplemental DVD called The Anvil Pants Odyssey, on Aug. 5 via Your Music America.
Right now you're probably thinking, "I've never heard of this band and I don't give a shit."
But the Los Angeles-based quartet are headed by one-time Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland. Guitarist Nick Annis, bassist Sean Fetterman and drummer Marshall Kilpatric are the other members.
Cover Your Heart features 10 covers of songs by a diverse range of artists, including Lard, Duran Duran, Fiona Apple, The Stooges and Borland's old Big Dumb Face project. The remaining seven tracks are instrumental leftovers from the band's 2007 release, Cruel Melody. "Lucretia My Reflection" and "So Alive" can be previewed on Black Light Burns' MySpace page.
The Anvil Pants Odyssey DVD features a 90-minute tour documentary along with three music videos from Cruel Melody, a 20-minute "making of" feature for the "Lie" video and pictures.
Black Light Burns will release Cover Your Heart in a variety of formats and price points, ranging from a free download of the instrumental tracks to a $100 deluxe limited edition boxed set that includes the CD, DVD, a download of Cover Your Heart, Cruel Melody and a hardcover numbered and autographed book with 30 prints of Borland's artwork. One thousand copies of the deluxe edition, which will be packaged to resemble an old Masonic handbook, will be made available.
Black Light Burns have been working on a new album that they plan to release early next year.
