The Hidden Cameras' Joel Gibb |
If you've ever wondered why Pee-Wee Herman and indie rock couldn't be combined, and wished someone would bring the two things together, you're about to be very, very happy.
The 1985 film Pee-Wee's Big Adventure will be screened at Toronto's Bloor Cinema on May 29 as a fundraiser for the Toronto Cyclists Union, which will launch next month. The film will be supported by a live cast of Toronto musicians and other personalities, including members of The Hidden Cameras, Broken Social Scene, Kids On TV, The Old Soul and The Phonemes. Lex Vaughn will star as Pee-Wee, while Gentleman Reg will play Francis.
Tickets are $14. All the money raised will go to support the Toronto Cyclists Union, an umbrella organization of more than 20 different bike advocacy groups that will work to make Toronto's streets a smoother ride for those who commute using two wheels and a set of pedals. More information can be found at the Toronto Cyclists Union's website.
