As I Lay Dying Aren't Bored With New Album Wednesday March 26, 2008 @ 05:00 PM By: ChartAttack.com Staff
 As I Lay Dying |
Leave your earplugs at home, sissies. As I Lay Dying are preparing to thrash their way across the great white north this spring in support of An Ocean Between Us.
It's been more than two years since San Diego's heaviest metalcore band traveled coast-to-coast across Canada, and this time they're doing it as a headlining act. How are the troops preparing for this adventure?
"Right now, I'm just relaxing at home for a few days," says singer Tim Lambesis over the phone. "We're getting ready for the tour and I'm working on things on my home studio."
Sunny beaches, cheap Mexican booze, Sea World… it's a wonder why anyone would want to leave San Diego. But Lambesis says he's pretty pumped about coming north.
"We're bringing the record to Canada for the first time. Bringing a new album to new fans is always exciting."
The last time As I Lay Dying toured Canada was on 2006's Taste Of Chaos tour. The tattoo-covered frontman insists that fans of his group will get more bang for their buck this time.
"We liked doing TOC, and it's good if you like three or four of the bands on the tour. It's better for the fans this time because they get to see the band for a full hour or more, instead of just 30 or 40 minutes. We wanted to make sure they got their money's worth."
An Ocean Between Us is As I Lay Dying's fourth album, and Lambesis believes the energy and freshness of the disc cut through their shows.
"I think after touring an album for two or two-and-a-half years, pretty much every band gets a little bored with their old album. This album is definitely new enough that we can really focus on having fun with this tour."
