Atlanta-based nu-metal band Sevendust will release Chapter VII: Hope & Sorrow on April 1.
The disc will hit stores through Sevendust's own Warner-affiliated 7Bros. Records imprint. The group split with longtime label TVT in 2006. Chapter VII is the band's — wait for it — seventh release and was co-produced by Sean Groove and band members Morgan Rose (drums) and John Connolly (guitars). Appearances by Chris Daughtry and Alter Bridge's Mark Tremonti and Miles Kennedy make this the first Sevendust album to feature guests since 2001's Animosity.
"There was a really relaxed vibe in the studio this time around," vocalist LaJon Witherspoon says. "I think Hope & Sorrow shows a different side of Sevendust. Heavy but still growing in a direction that explores a lot of different things musically for us."
"Inside," "Scapegoat" and "Prodigal Son" can be previewed on Sevendust's MySpace page.
Originally known as Crawlspace when they formed in 1994, legal issues forced a change to their current moniker shortly thereafter. Sevendust's self-titled debut was released in 1997 and was followed by Home, which featured the hits "Waffle" and "Denial." That eventually led to an appearance at Woodstock 1999 and slots on the Ozzfest tour. Four more studio releases followed, the latest of which was last year's Alpha.
Sevendust were scheduled to play the inaugural Rockstar Energy Mayhem Tour with Slipknot, Disturbed, Dragonforce, 36 Crazyfists, Mastodon and others, but pulled out on Feb. 26 due to an apparent scheduling conflict. If you're still keen on seeing Slipknot et al., you can catch the Mayhem Tour when it hits Toronto's Molson Amphitheatre on Aug. 8. Sevendust haven't revealed any dates in support of Chapter VII.
