Foo Fighters, Oasis And Bloc Party To Play Toronto's Virgin Festival

The Virgin Festival, North America's spin-off of Britain's popular V-Fest, will return to Toronto Island Park for its third year on Sept. 6 and 7.

Foo Fighters and Oasis will each headline a day, while Bloc Party, Paul Weller, Stereophonics, Wintersleep, Spiritualized, Constantines, The Weakerthans and The Pigeon Detectives are also on the bill.

Tickets go on sale this Saturday at noon at select Future Shop stores, Future Shop's website and Ticketmaster. A full two-day ticket will run you $159, which includes a $12 ferry fee and a two-dollar donation to Virgin Unite, Virgin's charitable arm that focuses on sustainable economic development. A one-day pass costs $87, including six bucks for the ferry and a loonie for the charity. Since it’s a corporate-branded festival, Virgin Mobile phone users will get early access to tickets.

The festival aims to be carbon-neutral and will feature on-site recycling, biodegradable food and drink containers, and green energy sources. Organizers will buy carbon offsets for the energy they use and will plant trees for future carbon reduction.

The Virgin Festival will hit Calgary on June 21 and 22, but no lineup has been announced. The dates for Vancouver's event haven't been finalized.

Here are the initial lineups for Toronto's Virgin Festival:

Sat. Sept. 6:

  • Foo Fighters
  • Bloc Party
  • Spiritualized
  • Wintersleep
  • Constantines

Sun. Sept. 7:

  • Oasis
  • Paul Weller
  • Stereophonics
  • The Weakerthans
  • The Pigeon Detectives
