Mark Kozelek's Sun Kil Moon folk project will release the appropriately titled April on April 1.

The disc will hit stores through Kozelek's own Caldo Verde label, which also recently released the self-titled debut album from Retribution Gospel Choir, the latest project from Low frontman Alan Sparhawk. April is the first original Sun Kil Moon studio release since 2003's Ghosts Of The Great Highway debut. It features guest appearances from Will Oldham (a.k.a. Bonnie "Prince" Billy) and Death Cab For Cutie vocalist/guitarist Ben Gibbard. The entire album can be previewed on the band's MySpace page.

Kozelek formed Sun Kil Moon in 2002 as a folk side project to his slowcore band Red House Painters, with whom he's recorded six full-length albums and an EP. The group, named after Korean boxer Sung-Kil Moon, also include Red House Painters drummer Anthony Koutsos. Tiny Cities, an album of Modest Mouse covers, followed two years later.

As a solo artist, Kozelek released What's Next To The Moon, an entire album of AC/DC covers, in 2001. His catalogue also includes two live releases.

Nights Of Passed Over, a 256-page hardback book featuring Kozelek lyrics from all of his various projects as well as concert set lists, will be published in a limited run of 2,500 copies on April 1. The book will come with a 12-song CD titled Nights LP featuring live and rare versions of Kozelek songs recorded from 1996 through 2007.

Although Sun Kil Moon don't have any tour plans on the horizon, you can catch Kozelek solo at Toronto's Lee's Palace on June 10.
