Fall Out Boy Are Goin' Down… In The Guinness Book Of World Records Wednesday March 19, 2008 @ 04:00 PM By: ChartAttack.com Staff
 Fall Out Boy |
Fall Out Boy are already known for quick jet-setting to play shows that are far apart, but they'll hit the record book on March 25 when they become the first band to play all seven continents in nine months.
Patrick Stump (vocals, guitars), Pete Wentz (bass, vocals), Joe Trohman (guitars) and Andy Hurley (drums) will make history when they play a show at Base Presidente Eduardo Frei Montalva, a Chilean research base on Antarctica's King George Island. The band will play to an audience of Russian, Chinese and Czech scientists in the base's gym. A representative from the Guinness Book Of World Records will be on hand to make sure they follow through. Proceeds from the show will go towards Greenpeace's alternative fuel and renewable energy resources programs.
Fall Out Boy began their epic seven-continent quest last summer when they played a show in Johannesburg, South Africa. Since then, they've played every continent except South America and Antarctica. They'll play Santiago, Chile on March 23 and will seal the deal near the South Pole two days later. The band are no strangers to quick travel, as they performed in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles on the same day last February. They've played more than 1,200 shows since forming in 2000.
In addition to record-breakers, Fall Out Boy can also add actors to their list of credentials. The band were recently on the set of the new Seth Green film, Sex Drive, in Florida. Green plays a hard-partying Amish man named Ezekiel who ropes Fall Out Boy into playing a Rumspringa — an Amish spring break party — in exchange for his help when their van breaks down. The result? Debauchery and drunkenness.
