Pennywise Don't Care Much About Pennies Anymore

Hermosa Beach, Calif. punk band Pennywise will make their ninth studio album, Reason To Believe, available for free for two weeks starting on March 25.

After selling more than three million albums worldwide over the past 18 years, it's time for them to give back.

"We can also potentially expose our music and message to people around the world who may have never had the opportunity to hear it because they either couldn't afford to buy a CD or they didn't have access to music outlets or good distribution," says vocalist Jim Lindberg.

Lindberg, guitarist Fletcher Dragge, drummer Byron McMackin and bassist Randy Bradbury signed to Epitaph in 1991 and their last album, The Fuse, was released in 2005. After breaking their album-every-two-years run, they signed to MySpace Records in 2007. To download Reason To Believe, MySpace users must add promotional partner Textango as a MySpace friend. An enhanced CD/DVD version of Reason To Believe will be released in stores on the same day. A vinyl version will also be available with two extra tracks.

"We know that this will piss off a lot of people in the music industry," says Dragge. "What do we say to that? 'Who cares?'

"We've been pissing off people for 18 years. Why stop now? We have been telling people to get our records by any means necessary for 17 years. As a band, we decided that it was time to come to terms with the facts."

Cameron Webb (Social Distortion, Motorhead) produced and mixed the album.

Pennywise will play this year's Warped Tour, which will stop in Toronto on July 19 and Montreal the next day.

Here are the tracks on Reason To Believe:

  • "(Intro) As Long As We Can"
  • "One Reason"
  • "Faith And Hope"
  • "Something To Live For"
  • "All We Need"
  • "The Western World"
  • "We'll Never Know"
  • "Confusion"
  • "Nothing To Lose"
  • "It's Not Enough To Believe"
  • "You Get The Life You Choose"
  • "Affliction"
  • "Brag, Exaggerate & Lie"
  • "Die For You"
