Make Nardwuar Next Year's Juno Awards Host In Vancouver Tuesday February 12, 2008 @ 05:00 PM By: ChartAttack.com Staff
Nardwuar: 2009 Juno Awards host? |
The Juno Awards will return to Vancouver for the third time in 2009.
Comedian Russell Peters will host this year's Juno telecast, which will be held at Calgary's Pengrowth Saddledome on April 6. The most logical candidate to emcee the Vancouver show is obviously Nardwuar The Human Serviette, who could add lots of local colour and would possess more comprehensive musical knowledge than any previous Juno host.
Canada's third largest city lobbied hard to get the Junos, and now it's time to lobby even harder to put Nard front and centre in the national spotlight. Let your email and letter-writing campaign in support of the multimedia maven begin now.
Next year's event will feature four days of activities — including the Juno Cup hockey game, the Juno Fan Fare meet-the-artists session, the JunoFest live music club crawl and a songwriters' circle — leading up to the CTV broadcast of the primary awards show on March 29.
City and provincial officials have already started working with the host committee to get the ball rolling, while FACTOR, Canadian private radio broadcasters, the Radio Starmaker Fund and the federal government's Canada Music Fund will provide sponsorship help. The Junos were previously staged in Vancouver in 1991 and 1998.
