Gomez member Ian Ball will release his Who Goes There solo debut on Oct. 30 via his own Dispensary Records label.
The record began as an impromptu jam in the spring and evolved over several studio sessions in Ball's adopted hometown of Los Angeles. Ball edited the tracks on his laptop computer while on tour with Gomez in July.
Who Goes There was co-produced by Ball and Will Golden (Gary Jules), whom he met while playing occasional solo shows at L.A.'s Hotel Cafe. It was there that Ball also became acquainted with the other musicians who helped out on the album, including keyboardist Phil Krohnengold (Duncan Sheik, Ween) and drummer Michael Jerome (Richard Thompson, Blind Boys Of Alabama).
Ball will perform a string of solo shows in support of Who Goes There, but Gomez are still very much alive. The British band will reconvene this fall to begin work on the follow-up to last year's How We Operate.
Ball will open for John Butler Trio at Toronto's Kool Haus on Nov. 13.
Here are the songs on Who Goes There:
