New Order Still New Order Despite Being Off The Hook Tuesday May 22, 2007 @ 07:00 PM By: ChartAttack.com Staff

While New Order bassist Peter Hook says that the British group are no more, the remaining members of the band don't necessarily agree.
"Peter Hook can leave the band, but this doesn't mean the end of New Order," says a statement from a source close to the band on their website. "They are still a band but obviously things are being made increasingly difficult as Peter makes claims of a split."
Hook posted a blog entry on his MySpace page earlier this month that referred to a British radio interview where he mentioned the New Order split.
"We remind you that the claims of New Order's split originated from Peter Hook's blog on MySpace, apparently he didn't warn the rest of the band that were surprised about this news," the May 17 NewOrderOnline.com report says. "Joy Division were Peter and Bernard's band initially, and becoming New order the band is truly democratif and have been treated as such."
New Order members were at the Cannes Film Festival for the world premiere of Control, a biopic about Joy Division lead singer Ian Curtis. Curtis committed suicide at age 23 in 1980 on the cusp of the band's debut American tour. A film soundtrack is expected to be released shortly. Joy Division's back catalogue is also being primed for reissue, although no details have been released.
Hook is currently working with Satellite Party, the band created by former Jane's Addiction/Porno For Pyros singer Perry Farrell.
