Spoon, Cat Power And The Walkmen To Play Calgary's Sled Island Festival

Calgary will dip its toe into the alternative music festival pool this summer by staging the Sled Island Festival from June 27 to 29.

While no schedule has been posted yet, headlining acts will include Spoon, Cat Power, The Walkmen, The Dears, Les Savy Fav, Destroyer, Boredoms and Mates Of State.

The event is being put together by: Shawn Petsche, the art curation and marketing co-ordinator for the Pop Montreal International Music Festival for the past three years; Broken City booker Zak Pashak; and Woodpigeon and Spreepark member Mark Hamilton.

There's no actual Sled Island site that will host the fest, but Knox United and Grace Presbyterian churches and the Mac Hall Ballroom will stage the biggest shows. Though the "Venue Maps" link on the Sled Island site doesn't work, it's probably a safe assumption that Broken City will present some performances.

Four-day festival passes, which will set you back $180 each, can be purchased from the festival's pain-in-the-ass website.

Here are the confirmed performers for the Sled Island Festival:
