Fredericton, New Brunswick rapper Brockway Biggs is sometimes known as Pimp Tea, but now he's shilling his music for American hip-hop star Nelly's Pimp Juice energy drink.
"When I stumbled across Brockway Biggs' music video for 'Shake Ya Caboose,' its vibe meshed really well with the fun persona of Pimp Juice," says Pimp Juice executive William "Wooty" Wooten. "So we approached Brockway Biggs about using a remix to promote Pimp Juice on our website, LetItLoose.com."
"Shake Ya Caboose" was released as a 12-inch vinyl single in 2004 and was named best urban single at the 2005 East Coast Music Awards. The remix, featuring the production work of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island's Nevski, includes additional vocals by Toronto's D.O. and Prentiss "Professir" Church, who's a member of Nelly's Derrty Ent. label roster.
The single has been sent to Canadian radio stations and can be downloaded from the Pimp Juice website. It will also be included on Biggs' third album, which is expected this summer.
"I was skeptical at first," says Biggs of what went through his head when the remix idea was initially pitched to him. "I'd tried Red Bull and a few other energy drinks here in Canada, but most tasted like wiper fluid mixed with bad cough medicine.
"But I liked the style of the Pimp Juice merchandise, so I decided to give a can a try. I was impressed. It actually tasted good. So I jumped at the chance of working together."
