In an attempt to duplicate Malajube's growing international acclaim, Celine Dion will release a French-language album titled D'elles on May 22.
The up-and-coming artist, who married a man 26 years older than her who's managed her since she was 13, got all romantic and issued the Epic album's first single, "S'il N'en Restait Qu'une (Je Serais Celle-La)," on Valentine's Day.
The album is a celebration of womanhood and its songs were written by female writers from France and Quebec, including Francoise Dorin, Christine Orban, Nina Bouraoui, Marie Laberge, Lise Payette, Denise Bombardier, Nathalie Nechtschein, Jovette Bernier and Janette Bertrand. Dion's longtime friend and collaborator, Jean-Jacques Goldman, was the music supervisor. Jacques Veneruso, David Gategno, Erick Benzi, Gildas Arzel, Marc Dupre and Jean-Francois Breau contributed to the musical score.
The native of Charlemagne, Quebec has been living in Las Vegas for the past four years. She's apparently acquired a bit of a following there, as she's played 600 shows in front of 2.5 million people at Caesars Palace. Her run there will end on Dec. 15.
It looks like this youngster has a bright future ahead of her after selling more than 175 million albums worldwide. Maybe someday one of her songs will be used in a famous movie.
