The Real Deal Try To Live Up To Their Name Thursday May 15, 2008 @ 09:30 PM By: ChartAttack.com Staff

Montreal’s The Real Deal are on the road supporting their new Stomp Records album, Hungover, But Dead Sober, and the ska-punk band have experienced a few hungover mornings on the tour.
“There’s always wild shit happening all the time,” vocalist/guitarist Ants says of their shows so far. “There’s fuckin’ Banff, which is always a wild show.
”We’re on stage, everyone’s buying us shots and stuff. While we’re playing songs, people are giving us shots. It’s just a really big mess. Like, it’s a huge party every time we play there, so that’s pretty cool. We like to party for sure, and if people treat us to the party, it makes it that much easier.”
For those who are curious to find out what makes The Real Deal think they live up to their name, Ants says witnessing the band live is essential, but he still has difficulty explaining their cocky moniker.
“I guess we came together from other bands at first, and it’s not that they weren’t going anywhere, but when we came together we got a little more serious and that name just kind of stuck. And you know, it’s real, it’s a deal, you know? I think that’s the gist of it.
“It also comes from that show News Radio, the Real Deal With Bill McNeil. I don’t know if you know what I’m talking about, but it kind of caught on.”
Rest in peace, Phil Hartman.
