Noisemakers: Lowell turns “Cloud 69” and “Palm Trees” into a birthday party

Nov 6, 2014
Noisemakers captures performances by our favourite emerging artists, off-stage and up-close.

Why is the morning after a birthday party always so dark and dreadful? Why can't there be a rebirth, so the birthday never actually ends? Why can't we recreate that bright and colourful night the next morning, but expel the negative energy? Lowell felt exactly the same at this Noisemakers session.

Armed with streamers, balloons and cuts from her fantastic debut LP We Loved Her Dearly, Lowell brought us to her favourite Toronto haunt, Milk Glass Co. and brightened it up in all pastel everything. Lowell is our joyful rebirth. Above, she bops through her single "Cloud 69" and below takes on "Palm Trees," which follows the trajectory of any great party and arrives at that inevitable end: the come down.

Lowell's debut album We Loved Her Dearly is out now via Arts & Crafts.

Lowell embarks on a tour with Generationals this December, with stops in Canada:

Friday December 5th - Toronto - The Garrison
Saturday December 6th - Montreal - Il Motore
