Your Favourite Enemies @ The Annex Wreck Room
Monday March 10, 2008 @ 09:00 AM
By: ChartAttack.com Staff

rcimage Band: Your Favorite Enemies
Hometown: Montreal, QC
Venue: The Annex Wreck Room
Date: March 8, 2008
Reporter: Jill Langlois
BACKGROUND/COMPOSITION:
Your Favorite Enemies are a heavy alt.rock band with a hint of Evanescence, and a male and a female singer. They sound and look exactly how you'd imagine, but with more participation from the other team members than Amy Lee would ever allow.

Grade: 84

Comment: These guys were sandwiched between some acts that were pretty different from them, but they seemed to have some kind of cult following that came out as soon as they hit the stage. Singer Alex Foster didn't waste any time with his fan and got right in their faces while screaming into the mic, and singer number two, Miss Isabel, added the perfect element to what could've just been another band.

Achievement of Rock 'n' Roll Expectations
80-100: Exceeds skill and knowledge expectations, i.e. rocked us so hard we peed our pants.
70-79: Achieves required skills and knowledge. Meets rock 'n' roll standard.
60-69: Demonstrates some skills. Approaches rock 'n' roll standard.
50-59: Demonstrates some required skills and knowledge in a limited way.
00-50: Has not demonstrated required skills or knowledge.

Oral And Visual Communication

Eye Contact: E Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Pronunciation: S Things can get a little uncomfortable when stage banter consists of introducing a song with statistics about sexual abuse. I can understand the point, but it was surprising to hear that thrown into their set. On the other hand, Your Favorite Enemies sure do know how to command a stage. Maybe another presentation topic would just be in order next time.

Musical Analysis

Level Of Participation: E Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Problem Solving: G If you're going to see Your Favorite Enemies, get your ear plugs ready, not because they're bad, but because they're loud. The two singers really are at the forefront of this band, and they're the ones who really got people going. Foster and Isabel are obvious leaders of the pack.

Other Skills And Areas Of Interest

Charisma: G Strengths/Weaknesses/Next Step:
Problem Solving: G Seeing Your Favorite Enemies is definitely an experience in itself. The interaction between the band members was magnetic, and the energy they put out to the crowd equally as strong. Heck, they even looked like they belonged together. What's another click in the grand scheme of things? I'd say it's a good thing if you're performing like these Montrealers do.
